Lauren had feline companions for 16 years, and John had animal companions on and off for eight years.  After their last cat died, John and Lauren decided to start fostering, so they can still enjoy the company of animals while also helping them get adopted.  They are currently fostering cats for Animal Rescue & Care Fund.

Total Cats Fostered = 43

Harvey

Harvey

Arrived 11/30/23 - Adopted (by us!) 1/22/24

Harvey was returned again because he was bullying his new family’s other cat.  Being our third time fostering Harvey, we couldn’t bear him leaving again, so we adopted him!  He becomes bratty (like pulling papers off the fridge) when he’s hungry, but usually he just wants to snuggle with us or get tucked in on the couch.  We’re disappointed we can’t foster anymore, but we love Harvey so much.

Luna

Luna

Arrived 11/02/23 - Adopted 12/30/23

Luna preferred lying near us more than lying on us, but she loved chin rubs, and reciprocated with licks. She enjoyed watching the birds from the catio and napping on the heating pad.  We enjoyed watching her groom because her long neck fur often got comically stuck in her mouth. Luna was the only cat who actually liked the “beehive bed.”

Harvey

Harvey

Arrived 09/13/23 - Adopted 10/13/23

After his adopter passed away, Harvey returned to us for a second time.  Even more affectionate than before, Harvey loved nuzzling into our armpits.  He immediately ran to the food dispenser when he heard the kibble drop, and was also mesmerized by the TV.  Most importantly, he hated peas.

Midnight

Midnight

Arrived 05/30/23 - Adopted 09/11/23

Midnight loved belly rubs, sitting on laps, and sleeping with his brother Ginger.  He often stuck his tongue out, but only a bit, which always made us laugh.

Ginger

Ginger

Arrived 05/30/23 - Adopted 09/11/23

Ginger is a sweet, orange boy who, although very shy, is eager for attention. He spent much of his time hiding under the catio steps. Only after noticing his brother Midnight getting pets without him, he would often come out of hiding to get some for himself. He also enjoyed snuggling with his brother on the highest catio shelf.

Marigold

Marigold

Arrived 05/06/23 - Transferred 05/22/23

Marigold is a beautiful girl with pretty patterns on her paws. She arrived immediately after her kittens were weaned, so she was still full of milk. Her ravenous appetite for food and pets could not be satiated.

Minnie

Minnie

Arrived 03/31/23 - Adopted 04/28/23

Minnie headbutts when she wants to be pet.  She loves cuddling and doesn’t mind being held like a baby or having her kinked tail touched. Despite her rotund torso, Minnie’s long legs propel her onto a high shelf to her favorite heated bed.  She also enjoys a bed near a window where she can watch birds.

Gustavo

Gustavo

Arrived 02/25/23 - Adopted 03/25/23

When not snuggling with his brother Gordy, Gustavo enjoys exploring.  It took him a while to figure out the cat flap, but once he did, he frequently hangs out in the catio.

Gordy

Gordy

Arrived 02/25/23 - Adopted 03/25/23

When not snuggling with his brother Gustavo, Gordy loves to hunt. His favorite prey is the mouse on the end of a wand toy which he often drags around the house and delivers to the nearest lap.

Ketchup

Ketchup

Arrived 01/23/23 - Transferred 02/09/23

Ketchup enjoys pets, but is too scared to ask for them, so it’s best to stroke him when he’s sleepy.  He enjoys napping with Koki, but wrestling with Kool-Aid.

Kool-Aid

Kool-Aid

Arrived 01/23/23 - Transferred 02/09/23

Kool-Aid is the troublemaker of the trio including Ketchup and Koki.  He darts out of the room when the door is opened, but runs back in when he realizes it’s dinnertime.  Kool-Aid may appear all black, but there’s some white hidden on his belly.

Koki

Koki

Arrived 01/23/23 - Transferred 02/09/23

She may be the smallest of the group, but Koki doesn’t let it hold her back. Her outgoing personality assures that she is the first one to get the cuddles whenever a person is around. This affectionate little doll rounds out the rowdiness of her brothers, Kool-Aid and Ketchup.

Annabelle

Annabelle

Arrived 10/21/22 - Adopted 01/20/23

Annabelle is a black beauty who is much more frisky than her brother Archie. Although she may look like she wants to cuddle, she will often attack whoever is petting her after only a few seconds. No matter what time of day it is, it is always playtime for Annabelle.

Archie

Archie

Arrived 10/21/22 - Adopted 01/20/23

Even though Archie is almost twice the size of his sister Annabelle, he is the calmer of the two…except when he’s playing in his tent.  Despite being fairly young, he’s very relaxed, and tolerates frequent interruptions to his naps for some cuddles.

Whitney

Whitney

Arrived 07/05/22 - Adopted 10/16/22

Whitney arrived with her brother Wilson after being returned by their original adopters. She didn’t take long to warm up to new people, and would often greet visitors to our house by climbing on their laps and nibbling their fingers. Her favorite place in the house was the “tent”–a covered cat bed in which she would curl up almost every night.

Wilson

Wilson

Arrived 07/05/22 - Adopted 10/16/22

Wilson arrived with his sister Whitney after being returned by their original adopters.  After Wilson’s greasy, matted fur was combed, he quickly transformed into a soft, handsome cat.  Wilson did not like being picked up, but he loved belly rubs.

Ingrid

Ingrid

Arrived 02/07/22 - Adopted 03/26/22

Ingrid arrived here from a home that she shared with 13 other cats. After a few days of hiding, she quickly turned into the most attention-seeking cat that we ever fostered. She loved being in the same room as us, so much that she would often cry incessantly and climb the cat room door when she was alone.

Tai

Tai

Arrived 10/25/21 - Adopted 01/16/22

Tai’s name was inspired by the Thai food cart where he was found scavenging.  He transformed from a dirty stray to a handsome lap cat who loved belly rubs.  Though you can’t see from this photo, Tai has striking blue eyes.

Prince Peach

Prince Peach

Arrived 09/17/21 - Adopted 10/02/21

We hoped Prince Peach would befriend Morris, but he preferred to be alone.  He was the Prince of Sleep; his three favorite spots were all beds–the “throne” in the cat room, the tower in the catio, and the heated pad in the living room.  The couple who rescued Prince Peach from the street ended up adopting him, and even built him a window catio!

Morris

Morris

Arrived 09/09/21 - Adopted 01/30/22

Morris is very whiny, but it’s difficult to be cross with him because he’s also so sweet.  When he’s not sleeping in the heated bed (or walking around crying at closed doors), he enjoys lying between our legs with his arms outstretched.

Odessa

Odessa

Arrived 08/20/21 - Transferred 09/02/21

Odessa was the leader of the group, with her serious face and long tail.  She quickly learned how to access the catio, and loved running around with her sisters.

Oksana

Oksana

Arrived 08/20/21 - Transferred 09/02/21

Oksana is like a mirror image of her sister Olive, but she has a stubbed tail.  She was quick to escape our outstretched hands, but we managed to catch her sometimes for a quick cuddle.

Olive

Olive

Arrived 08/20/21 - Transferred 09/02/21

Olive is like a mirror image of her sister Oksana, but she has a kinked tail.  She was quick to escape our outstretched hands, but we managed to catch her sometimes for a quick cuddle.

Rosanne

Rosanne

Arrived 08/20/21 - Transferred 09/02/21

Rosanne was found in a parking lot with a severe eye infection.  The eye had to be removed, but it didn’t seem to affect her vision.  She joined a trio of sisters so she wouldn’t be lonely, and she could learn to socialize.  Even though Rosanne was the most cautious of the group, she still enjoyed playing, especially in the Ripple Rug.

Zelda

Zelda

Arrived 04/11/21 - Transferred 08/03/21

Zelda arrived with her brother Mister and is one of the prettiest kitties that we have ever fostered. Her dilute tortie colors and fluffy coat make you want to pick her up and hug her. Unfortunately, this is off-limits for the Princess. Zelda prefers receiving her pets on her terms, which are usually on the floor, although she does allow the occasional belly rub. Rather than play with toys, Zelda prefers to rub her face on them. During downtime, she can be found hiding behind the litter robot, under the blanket on the couch, or surveilling her kingdom from upon her throne.

Mister

Mister

Arrived 04/11/21 - Transferred 08/03/21

Mister often cowers from an approaching hand even though he loves pets.  Possibly due to some trauma, he is easily frightened, and runs away for no apparent reason.  He enjoys belly rubs during the rare times he relaxes and occasionally lounges on the couch with his sister Zelda.  Otherwise, he spends most of his time in a heated bed, no matter the room temperature.

Ruby

Ruby

Arrived 02/28/21 - Adopted 04/07/21

Ruby used to live with Eugene, but his high energy and her timidness were not very compatible. She loved to hide and quickly figured out she could access a bathroom drawer from the back, so this became her safe place.  We often pulled the drawer out to see her relaxing or even sleeping on the towels.  Eventually, she trusted us enough to visit us on the couch, however, she couldn’t decide on whom she wanted to sit and would walk back and forth between our laps.

Eugene

Eugene

Arrived 02/11/21 - Adopted 02/25/21

Even though he was scared, Eugene came out of hiding his first night to hesitantly explore the house.  After a few tense days with Edith, Eugene relaxed and accepted his new playmate.  He often slept in the window bed even when it was partially fallen.  Eugene’s thick fur helped him enjoy sleeping in the catio as well.  Preferring shoulders to laps, Eugene climbed up our chests to cuddle.  He gives great hugs!

Edith

Edith

Arrived 01/24/21 - Adopted 02/25/21

As you can see from her photo, Edith was a troublemaker.  She enjoyed climbing into the trash can, and running around the house to avoid being put back in her room.  She’s very friendly, but will rarely stay still long enough to cuddle.  Edith was very lonely after Emma and Eleanor were adopted together.  Eugene soon arrived as a new playmate, but he wasn’t as ready as Edith was.

Eleanor

Eleanor

Arrived 01/24/21 - Adopted 02/10/21

Eleanor was kind of like a middle child even though she was from the same litter as her sisters Edith and Emma.  She was fairly reserved as a kitten, but did love playing with her sisters.  Unfortunately, she had a respiratory infection, but it improved with antibiotics.

Emma

Emma

Arrived 01/24/21 - Adopted 02/10/21

We only have a few photos of Emma because she would never stay still–either chasing Edith or Eleanor, or running around by herself.  Emma is the runt of this sisterly trio, but she’s also the most rambunctious.  She was prone to jealousy if we were paying more attention to one of her siblings, and would try to climb onto us for pets.

Harvey

Harvey

Arrived 01/13/21 - Transferred 01/23/21

Even though he was an un-neutered stray, Harvey is extremely friendly.  With his thick coat, he actually prefers being in the catio even when it’s freezing.  After his alteration, he was invited inside, where he quickly transitioned from tomcat to lap cat.  He was transferred to another foster home because we were needed to foster kittens.

Cruella

Cruella

Arrived 12/07/20 - Adopted 01/04/21

Unlike her namesake, Cruella is a sweet creature.  Much more relaxed than her sister Chicken, Cruella enjoys cuddling, and hiding in the Ripple Rug.  Like most kittens, she loves playing, especially running around the catio and wrestling her sister.

Chicken

Chicken

Arrived 12/07/20 - Adopted 01/04/21

Even though Chicken was the runt of her litter, she has a huge personality.  Scrawny, but scrappy, she loves playing with her sister Cruella, and attacking cardboard scratchers.  She is too wriggly to hold because she prefers running around.

Chunk

Chunk

Arrived 11/23/20 - Adopted 12/06/20

Despite being born in a barn, Chunk quickly adapted to the good life indoors.  He loves playing with his brother Chip, especially while crawling through the Ripple Rug.  Chunk enjoys the finer things in life, such as licking our hands.

Chip

Chip

Arrived 11/23/20 - Adopted 12/06/20

Despite being born in a barn, Chip quickly adapted to the good life indoors.  He loves playing with his brother, especially pouncing on him while Chunk hides in the Ripple Rug.  Always hungry, Chip will even suckle his brother.

Archie

Archie

Arrived 10/25/20 - Adopted 11/22/20

Despite being a stray, Archie was immediately friendly and constantly demanded pets. He wasn’t satisfied with one-handed pets, and would rub the free hand hoping for more.  Archie was very whiny, often crying for food and attention, but once he settled down, he could occupy a lap until the person’s legs went numb.

Vern

Vern

Arrived 09/28/20 - Adopted 10/24/20

Vern arrived with his sister Viola as part of a larger litter of kittens from a feral mother. The two of them were bonded and needed to be adopted together. Vern was shy at the beginning, but became more confident. He loved chasing his sister up the pole and around the catio.

Viola

Viola

Arrived 09/28/20 - Adopted 10/24/20

Viola arrived with her brother Vern as part of a larger litter of kittens from a feral mother. The two of them were bonded and needed to be adopted together. Viola started out as the brave leader of the two, but the dynamic switched as time went on. Seemingly all black, she actually has faint tabby stripes that appear in the light.

Queenie

Queenie

Arrived 08/30/20 - Adopted 09/23/20

Queenie is pretty, but a bit neurotic.  She doesn’t seem to care much about being pet; she just likes being in the same room as us.  In the morning, she releases pent-up energy by attacking the ottoman and a few of her favorite toys.  Otherwise, she enjoys sleeping and relaxing by the window.

Peter

Peter

Arrived 04/08/20 - Adopted 08/28/20

Peter arrived with Sasha when they were suddenly homeless. Both were scared, confused, and hid most of the time, only coming out at night. After some time, Peter began to warm up to us and has become incredibly affectionate. His greasy fur has become very soft. Peter loves napping on the couch in strange positions while indulging in a good belly rub. He is a big fan of the catio and spends most of his waking time staring at birds and squirrels from the highest shelves. Peter is truly a different cat today than when he arrived.

Sasha

Sasha

Arrived 04/08/20 - Transferred 05/19/20

Sasha arrived with Peter when they were suddenly homeless. Both were scared, confused, and hid most of the time, only coming out at night. Even though Peter became more social, Sasha did not. Because of Sasha’s timid nature, Peter sometimes bullied her, so it was decided that she may do better in a separate foster home. She was transferred to a studio apartment where she has become comfortable after receiving individual attention.

Lion

Lion

Arrived 03/21/20 - Transferred 04/07/20

Lion looks like his namesake, but a smaller and friendlier version.  He arrived with matted fur and missing teeth, but he’s still adorable, especially when his tongue is sticking out.  With a silent scream instead of a roar, he often asks for pets and attention. We loved him but he was transferred to another foster home to make room for two cats that need special attention.

Cliff

Cliff

Arrived 11/23/19 - Adopted 02/08/20

Cliff is a bit of a wild guy with a lot of personality. He loves climbing around the catio, startling squirrels, and exploring everywhere his tufted paws can take him. In his downtime, he thoroughly enjoys chin and head scratches, but be careful–he has boundaries and will let you know if you cross them. His luxurious mane and fluffy tail make him the handsomest boy on the block.
Linda

Linda

Arrived 10/05/19 - Adopted 11/23/19

Lovely Linda is a shy girl until you get to know her. She loves burying herself under a blanket unless someone is around to give her lots of pets and belly rubs. She has the cutest little meow, the softest fur, and the skinniest tail of any cat we’ve ever met.
